Developed by Experts
The ProSpec hospital recliner chair has been developed over several years in conjunction with Aintree Hospital and the Royal Victoria Infirmary to ensure that it will be able to deliver for both hospital staff and patients alike.
Designed to work on practically any type of hospital ward, the ProSpec is used as a ‘beside your bed’ hospital chair that will keep patients comfortable and supported whenever they need it.
“Over the past 5 years, therapists and CNS tissue viability from Aintree University Hospitals NHS Trust have worked collaboratively with Yorkshire Care in the development of the Prospec chair.
Following several evaluations and meetings, the chair was adapted to address issues and concerns raised following feedback. The company were very willing to listen and work with the trust in product design in response to this feedback.
The Prospec chair is now the specialist chair of choice that meets the needs of our patients.” – Monica Moore, CNS Tissue Viability
Flexible seating in a hospital recliner chair
The ProSpec hospital recliner chair has built-in seat height and depth adjustability to ensure that each patient can sit comfortably in the chair with the right level of support. To keep things as simple as possible, these adjustments can be made with no need for tools. All the positioning options on the ProSpec ward chair are controlled electronically so the patient can have complete control over how they sit; alternatively, this can be controlled separately by staff.
With tilt-in-space included in the chair, you can have peace of mind knowing that the patient will not slip out of the chair and that they are at less risk of developing a pressure injury.
The ProSpec has been designed with tissue viability in mind, and the hospital chair comes with a shaped cushion as standard with the option to upgrade to a gel cushion if necessary. This hospital chair is also ideal for patients who are undergoing rehabilitation due to its built-in vertical rise function and forward tilt. This is also a great help for patients who struggle with sit-to-stand transfers.
Side transfer to and from the ProSpec can also be simplified thanks to the locking flip-up armrests.
Straightforward design
The ProSpec needed to be as simple as possible so hospital staff and patients could make the most of the chair with ease. For extra simplicity, there are large castors fitted to the bottom of the chair to make it easy to move around between wards. This will also reduce the amount of transfer to and from the chair because you can simply move the chair itself.
There are two different backrest styles to choose from. The straight backrest provides ergonomic support along the spine, whereas the lateral backrest provides more structure to help the patient maintain a healthy midline position.
Because hospital equipment gets moved around so regularly, we’ve included a special pocket that can hold the charger of the chair with no worries about it getting misplaced. There’s also a breakaway cable fixed to the ProSpec which will minimise any damage to the charger.
The most durable hospital chair
When designing the ProSpec, we were very aware of how hospital equipment is needed at every hour of every day. So we set about creating a durable hospital chair that would never let hospital staff or patients down.
The ProSpec hospital chair has a heavy-duty metal frame that can withstand a lot of use. And the chair itself is covered in a combination of Dartex and vinyl for easy cleaning and no worries about wear and tear!
To make sure your ProSpec hospital chairs stay on the right ward, we’ve included a space on the back and the sides of the chair to write which ward and/or patient it has been assigned to. And the castors are braked to lock the chair in place when it isn’t being moved around.
Infection control
The ProSpec hospital recliner chair is also entirely infection control friendly. The chair is fitted with clasps rather than Velcro to minimise any areas where bacteria can harbour and grow.
It’s also been checked for use with several different disinfectants on swipe tests. The ProSpec has removable cushions and backrests that can easily be swapped out if they do become contaminated.
The handset is also fully sealed and flat to reduce the chances of cross-infection.
