Working Together with Councils, CCGs and Care Providers

A conversation at the OT Show involving the Yorkshire Care Equipment team and Bradford Metropolitan District Council. Discussions and planning with North Lincolnshire Council. Both have led to the same result, targeted support for over 40 care providers and community teams across two authorities.

Bradford Metropolitan District Council identified the issue of reducing the emotional trauma of falls. Based on our discussions we then narrowed the field down to the two most appropriate options and demonstrated both the manual and electric versions of the Raizer emergency falls lifting chairs to the Principal OT and her team. The trial was universally well received and 23 community teams across the council’s area will benefit from this most advanced solution with the goal of reducing the pressure on the area’s ambulance service.

The planning we undertook with North Lincolnshire Council saw 20 care providers benefiting from single handed care equipment to emergency falls lifting chairs from Hip’Guards to bariatric resources each selected to match their specific requirements. The result being 20 care providers are better equipped to assist the NHS in reducing discharge times and increasing the hours of care within the community. The cost of the initiative was met through workforce retention funding.

The overwhelming conclusion echoed by each of these initiatives is that working together, collaboratively, identifies the requirement more effectively, it accesses the best possible product and ensures it is delivered to the point of need more efficiently.
