Our COVID-19 Policy: Continuing Support of Care & Community

The situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the UK is constantly evolving. We are aware that many of our customers and clients are increasingly concerned about how this will affect their ability to access healthcare equipment and their daily care routines.

As such, we will keep this post updated with our latest policies and information on how Vivid Care can offer support as the situation develops. Please check back here for any further updates.

At this time, the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who works for and with Vivid Care is our top priority. We currently have no concerns about an outbreak of the COVID-19 virus occurring within our staff, and we have had no confirmed or suspected cases amongst any of our colleagues or clients.

We are monitoring the situation closely and following the latest advice from the government and Public Health England.

We are currently open as normal

To enable private individuals, healthcare professionals and loan stores to have continued access to the equipment needed to maintain people’s health and wellbeing we are currently taking the following actions:

  • Our retail showroom remains open Monday to Friday 8.30am — 4.30pm
  • Our team will still attend site/home visits for essential assessments, equipment setup and maintenance

Support for those who can’t come to us

To support individuals who are in self-isolation and care facilities that are in lockdown, we are also offering the following services:

  • Video assessments and equipment setups — call 01423 799960 or email [email protected] to book a video appointment.
  • Increased availability of products to order online or via telephone — call 01423 799960 or view our product range to find items available to buy online.
  • Delivery to door — we can arrange to drop your items off at your door rather than bringing them inside for you. Just ask when you place an order! This can be followed up with a video call if you need help getting equipment setup.

Helping equipment loan stores with their preparations

To cope with the increased need for beds, hospitals are looking to discharge patients as quickly as possible.

Equipment loan stores play a key part in this effort — quick access to the right equipment allows more people to be safely cared for at home. So, we know many stores are looking to urgently increase their stock levels to keep up with the demand.

To support these preparations, we have increased our ability to supply loan stores. Please get in touch if you’re looking for any equipment.

In particular, we’ve increased the stock of our Lento Care Chair. It’s incredibly adjustable and can deal with even the most complex postural needs. Adjustments are quick and don’t require tools or new parts, so the chairs can be issued or reissued immediately.

We can even provide additional support by offering chair setups via video call, without needing to visit patients when they are in isolation.

Hygiene & Prevention

Of course, we will also be taking some additional steps to protect all staff and customers and prevent the spread of the virus.

Vivid Care staff will be implementing the following steps as precautionary measures:

  1. Wash hands regularly and use alcohol gel when entering the building, between serving customers, after opening boxes, and before eating food.
  2. Wearing face masks at all times when assisting customers.
  3. Avoid close contact with others. We will not be shaking hands.
  4. Ask all staff on the road must have gloves on their vehicle and to use them wherever possible.
  5. Ensure plenty of suitable cleaning products are available on site.
  6. Clean desks, door handles, keyboards, computer mice, and other high-contact areas with disinfectant on a regular basis.
  7. Implement a strict cleaning procedure for all hire and loan items being returned, including wheelchairs. These products will all be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected each time they are returned.
  8. Any staff who have been to high-risk areas, develop symptoms including a dry cough or fever, or who live with someone who develops symptoms, must self-isolate for seven days. If no symptoms are present at this point, they will be allowed to return to work, otherwise, the isolation period will be extended.
  9. Cover their nose and mouth with bent elbow or tissue when they cough or sneeze. The used tissue will be disposed of immediately and hands will be washed.

We have set up alcohol gel stations at the main doors into the showroom, by the warehouse loading door and at the workshop entrance. All employees will make use of these facilities when entering or leaving the building.

Equipment Installation

Where a member of our team has to enter a client’s house to install or repair essential care equipment, the following extra steps will be taken:

  1. Our installer or engineer will wear a mask for the duration of the job.
  2. All products installed will be wiped down with a sanitiser.
  3. Arrangements will be made with clients on an individual basis to maintain adequate social distancing throughout.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

Our team will continue to monitor the situation closely, and this policy may be updated in line with new recommendations by the Department of Health.
